MUMBAI (AA) - South Indian Telugu film actor Uday Kiran was found dead at his house in Hyderabad, capital of southeastern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, after allegedly committing suicide on Sunday night.
The body of the 33-year old actor, who made his debut in 2000 with the film Chitram, was found by his parents and his wife hanging from a ceiling at his flat in Srinagar Colony.
He was rushed to Jubilee Hills Apollo hospital, but declared dead upon arrival by doctors.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) V Satyanarayana told Press Trust of India that the actor was apparently suffering from depression.
Satyanarayana said an autopsy would be conducted at Usmania General Hospital and the procedure would be video-recorded.
The exact cause of the death would be known only after the medical examination as no suicide note was found on the spot.
Kiran shot to fame following his debut in 2000 with Chitram.  He became one of the youngest actors to have bagged a film award for his role in his second film Nuvvu Nenu.
In a span of 13 years, Kiran acted in at least 19 films. His last film, Jai Sriram, was released in April 2013.
The actor married Vishita, his long-time friend, in October 2013.
The South film industry reacted with shock on social networking sites as the news of the young actor spread in film circles on Monday morning.
Actor-director Kiccha Sudeep, who spoke with Kiran last week in Bangalore, said the news was a “shocker”.
“I was unable to react when I got the news,” Sudeep wrote.

Khushbu Sundar, renowned South actress, wrote on Twitter, “(I’m) shocked to hear that young and talented Uday Kiran is no longer among us. (The) worst you can do to yourself and your loved ones is to commit suicide. RIP.”
